Public Events

On May 1st, I went to the Chinese flowering crab apple exhibition in the Mochou Lake Park with Sky, King, Matt, Dennis, Chester, Jim, Rita, Ethel, Erik and Richard from 10-B. After a long trip on the bus, I finally arrived at our destination at a quarter to eleven in the morning. Looking for a while, I found Dennise on the stop standing there lonely. I suddenly walked towards Dennise, "Oh, you frighten me to death!" A long time of waiting again...
After about twenty minutes, my friends reached at last. ( Oh, my gosh! Do you know my grievance?) At quarter past eleven, we together bought the tickets of the park, very cheap, only costs 20 yuan per person. From the name of the famous park and a little bit history I have already known, I felt there was a beauty in the centre of the park. After all friends get their own tickets, we went into the pretty world. First scene went into our eyes were a big fountain with flowers around. "Take photos, take photos!" Sky noticed. Continuing visiting for about twenty minutes, we arrived at the small entrance of the flower exhibition. In front of the gate, the poster labels“Park of precious Malus spectabilis”. Walking along the paths between different kinds of plants slowly, the grass and flowers were greeting us. The Chinese flowering crab apples were all around, but the scene seemed not as my ideas, I considered there might be a huge amount of flowers lovely blooming, but most of the plants just had leaves. Wondering why the flowers were like that, some of us were taking photos with flowers, and others were appreciating what they saw and what they had found. Some also worried there had no beautiful flowers around, but I realized these little trees would be the bases of the flowers, from these trees, beautiful flowers grow in the future.
I knew that something happened in a pity, but I also knew lucky things come after!

The happy, wonderful Fashion Show

Erik and me

April 27th,2009, the fashion show finally dropped its curtain. Many activities were held in GCA, the fashion show was such a big one. Last night, I took part in the wonderful Fashion show with Erik and other classmates after we having fun and finishing eating dinner.
It was 6:10, the Fashion Show began with all people’s exciting shouts. At the beginning, on the large stage, there were students wearing causual clothes as hosts, and after announcing for a while, with music fluttering up and down, all the teachers wearing special clothes walked on to the stage. Ms.Bartell and Ms.Hadley first came into our eyes with flowers in their hair which seemed a little bit classic( like in ancient China). After female teachers, Mr.Harris was striding and dressed a brown suit with sunglasses on. I thought: WOW! Mr.Harris was so cool and totally different than I considered before! Is that Mr.Harris... The next followed, it’s Mr.Shapour! It’s the most interesting one all over the world! His body was covered by a silver space suit which on the back there was the sign "GCA" for short standing for our school. So funny, eh?
The fashion show was really interesting, however, unluckily, some parts of this project could be improved. For example, the show only lasted for about an hour, and during the festival, all students or teachers who were not models didn't have chances to show their enthusiasm by participiating in the activity. More fun could be held up, and more students would join, not only standed and looked at the models. On the other hand, it’s absolutely happy for me to work for my teacher on designing the clothes, see how successful I did also can improve myself. The ticket price is very cheap, only 15 RMB each person. Some thought that the fashion show was not as good as they thought, but I realized it’s a meaningful experience for us, though there some pities left. I was happy that I could have a chance to go to such a cool performance, and I am also very expected for the next time, the magnificent fashion show!

Nanjing Museum of PALAEONTOLOGY travel notes

Raining for all day, when sun smiles; it's time for us to have some fun. By the way, it is said that we must attend one professional exhibition for our own portfolio. With having a marvelous lunch and sleeping soundly for a while, I get up and decide to take a look at the paleontology museum besides our sub district with my mom.
History is what, I don't know. However, I know no history, no human being. On the other hand, history is any processes which develop essentially, to show it as a proverb, "Forgivable, but unforgettable." We have to and should discover the process of things developing.
Stepping on the rugs which already faded, we arrived at the museum hall. What heaves in sight is a giant bronze relief, although we thought that it is very ugly, but above is actually engraving the inexhaustible extinct organism knowledge, in this world the knowledge is the most beautiful thing, both mom and I have learned one of the meaningful truths. Which stand on our right side are three giant dinosaur fossil skeletons, respectively, there was the mamenchisaurus, stegosaurus and tyrannosaurus, mother gained ground, surprisingly called out, I looked along with her line of eyesight, originally in our top of the head was also being hanging four dreadfully, but actually very energetic small pterodactyl fossil skeletons. “Ancient animals are really too winsome!” Mom and I always with one voice nearly acclaim.
On the way of traveling to the past, I realized what invertebrate paleontology, paleontology and micropaleontology are. Also from the collections and exhibit specimens, I knew what the evolutionary history of LIFE is. The most fascinating ones were these kinds of original animals living in the sea. Nowadays, we still wonder the Loch Ness Monster is alive or not. To my opinion, the monster survives. There, many kinds of knowledge are shown, so I cannot describe all.
Time passes quickly when you are having fun! Journey of the museum have gone, the development of things are deeply impressed~ I love this theme, so I like the fantastic exihibition~

Nanjing University ART EXHIBITION

“It was my first time to have a look at a sculpture exhibition. However, at least, these artworks were absolutely brilliant and made me feel excited about it. In the future, I wish I have an opportunity to dig more ability about arts. I like it." ——said by Claude
Some weeks ago, 10-C students and us went to Nanjing University for an exhibition called Wu Weishan Cultural Figures Sculpture Gallery. It was a wonderful trip that I had taken, which perfectly showed the artworks, the sculptures made by Mr.Wu. Many of the artworks described a couple of famous artists, authors and famous people from the past in Chinese history.
Looking around for a while, the sculpture which I was interested in was such a sculpture of a famous person in the ancient China named "Lao Zi". It was sculpted by Professor.Wu in the year 2005. The largest copy of this artwork is located in Jiang Su, Huainan. The most interesting thing is that there is also a famous paragraph called Tao Te Ching ("Dao De Jing" in Chinese) carved inside of the sculpture. With the empty area inside, it is big enough for a person to stand inside. Ancient Chinese words were carved in Lao Zi's body which are really archaic.
This kind of artworks made me feel very peaceful and broad. With thinking through the whole time, I realized many things, truths. As the main idea is said, "Empty" is the scene of the universe "Qiankun", and with no borders, it could share and embrace everything entirely. The thoughtful sculpture reminds me of an experience. Like the experience engraved in my mind, it also tells me how to forgive others and improve myself. Such a human nature, that like an old Chinese proverb, "the chest of a man is wider than the sky and is deeper than the oceans", so on the surface it says that the person has a kind and generous mind or heart. It makes me think of many senses such as how the world is, how we should treat others, how we should get along with others, and also the most necessary idea is about what our society is like. I guess that the artist's intention is to describe and represent the personalities of the famous Chinese philosopher, Lao Zi.
By showing his characteristics, which tells us what kind of person he is, let me know what the great person related to. For my curiosity, to carve the famous book of "Dao De Jing" inside the sculpture is a very creative skill or an idea of making artwork. Looking at "the high, even messy guy", my feeling is that the wise person is standing towards me,and for that, he tries to explain me something in his mind benignantly.
I feel the exhibition was a brain washing, it’s a kind of “fantasy” that I really liked, and from what I said, I knew a lot after the journey. In my mind, I promise I must be generous; I realize I still have lots of things to try and improve on; also, I will prove myself...
Fortunately, we met Professor Wu during the exhibition. A crowd of students rushed towards him, some asked for his signature, and some were taking photos around him. How thronged here was! Ha, art is so winsome, eh? Yep, I am fond of it.
